Staying in this Memorial Day Weekend? It doesn't have to taste like it with this oven baked ribs recipe. This out-of-the-box baked recipe is sure to spice things up!
INGREDIENTS:
RIBS:
-
2-2.5 lbs baby back pork ribs
-
Salt & pepper
BARBECUE SAUCE:
-
1/4 cup finely diced onion
-
1/2 cup ketchup (preferred: homemade)
-
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
-
1 tablespoon O-Live olive oil
-
2 tbsp light brown sugar
-
1/2 tsp ground cumin
-
Salt & pepper, to taste
DIRECTIONS:
RIBS:
1. Heat oven to 275 degrees Fahrenheit (135C).
2. Remove the thin membrane covering the back of the rack (if applicable).
3. Season thoroughly with a generous amount of salt and pepper. Place, meat-side up, into a large roasting pan or baking sheet. Cut in half if necessary.
4. Cover tightly with aluminum foil, and then bake for 3-4 hours - until the meat falls easily from the bones.
BARBECUE SAUCE:
1. Heat the olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
2. Add diced onion, cook until soft and translucent (5 to 8 minutes). Add cumin and cook for 30 more seconds.
3. Add the ketchup, hot chili sauce, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar. Stir to combine, season with salt, and continue to cook for 2 minutes.
FINALLY:
1. When the ribs are finished, remove them from the oven, take off the aluminum foil and thoroughly brush both sides with barbecue sauce.
For cartelized sauce: Broil the ribs on high for 3-4 minutes, until the barbecue sauce begins to caramelize.
