Cupid's Crush: Blood Orange, Olive Oil, & Rose Cocktail
What's better than a box of chocolates? Well, a Blood Orange Tequila Cocktail shared with the one you love, of course!

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz mezcal or blanco tequila

  • 0.5 oz Campari

  • 0.75 oz fresh blood orange juice

  • 0.5 oz fresh grapefruit juice

  • 0.5 oz fresh lime juice

  • 0.5 oz rose simple syrup (recipe follows) - regular simple syrup works as well

  • 1 egg white

  • O-Live Olive Oil

Preparation

Drizzle ½ tsp of O-Live Olive Oil into a cocktail coupe or martini glass; swirl so that the oil “rinses” the inside of the glass and set aside. In a cocktail shaker, dry shake the egg white (shake without ice) until very frothy, at least one minute. Add all other ingredients plus ice to the shaker, and shake until cold and well-mixed, about 30 seconds. Strain into the oil-rinsed cocktail coupe. Garnish with dried rosebuds or a blood orange wheel.

To make the rose simple syrup: Combine ½ cup water, ½ cup sugar and ¼ cup dried rosebuds (available to purchase at World Market or online at Mountain Rose Herbs) in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Simmer for 5 minutes, remove from heat and allow to steep for 10 minutes. Strain into an air-tight container. Syrup will keep in fridge for about 2 weeks.
